To protect the health of its employees and of the tenants who have offices at 807 Broad Street, the Rhode Island Indian Council made the decision in 1994 to prohibit smoking in the Algonquin House. We are therefore pleased to support the new "Workers' Safety Law," which went into effect on March 1, 2005. We believe that this life-saving initiative that prohibits smoking in almost all enclosed work places, can protect employees and clients from second-hand smoke exposure, which, as data shows, has killed up to 1,800 Rhode Inders every year.
